What a fantastic weekend we had.   The "poshtel" was spot-on as far as accommodation and facilities were concerned.   The bedrooms were very comfortable and very spacious and the rehearsal room was just perfect.   Friday started the singing off well once most people had arrived.   After a short session we adjourned to the very comfy seats and played a game of "Blankety Blank" - got funnier and funnier as the night went on.   (Aided by a little alchohol possibly!)

Saturday had a fixed plan - starting to sing at 9.30.   Unfortunately one very important member of the company is not the best at getting up in the morning and just about made it - only fifteen minutes late in starting.  However, with an almost full turnout of members, we had a very successful morning learning new songs and perfecting previously learned ones.   Mark and his sous-chef set up the buffet lunch before a further few hours of singing.   Morris and Margaret held up very well indeed and the whole day was a complete success.   We eventually finished the planned rehearsal about 6.00 then, after the men watched a bit of the Scotland / Ireland rugby game (good for Peter of course!) we set off to the Mhor Fish restaurant in Callander.   Good food, good company then we returned to the hostel where we played another silly game - post its on the forehead with names.   Some particularly obscure, but again a very funny entertainment for all.  We then started to sing again - unaccompanied with lots of harmonies.  Not only was this fun, but it showed us we can do it without accompaniment if necessary.    Mark and Janet, the owners, joined us after they returned from Janet's performance of Fiddler on the Roof in Callander and we carried on singing until the wee small hours.   Everyone finally retired to bed by 3.00 pm.

Up bright and early again on Sunday - well, all except our lovely musical director again of course.  After breakfast, we rehearsed again without the services of Morris who had to go home on the Saturday night after dinner.  However, our two "reserve pianists" did a sterling job.  Well done Elizabeth and Margaret!!!!!   Considering the late night, the tired voices, the temporary accompanists and a few headaches, we had another good rehearsal session before grabbing a quick bite of lunch and packing up for home.

This was a weekend of serious rehearsing, but also a time of getting to know each other better and having fun.   As a choir this can only benefit us and we would like to thank Fife Council for their assistance in funding this weekend.   We feel this has been a tremendous experience and would hope to repeat it next year.

Our photos are on the "Photos" page - a bit of a mix from various members.   But reminders of a good time nevertheless!
